Copyright Policy and Content Usage Guidelines

Social Newsia is a news organization dedicated to providing authentic, local, and impactful journalism. We believe in the power of original content and the hard work that goes into its creation. Our videos, reports, and all other forms of media are the result of diligent reporting, on-the-ground work, and a commitment to journalistic integrity.

This page serves as a formal declaration of our copyright policy and content usage guidelines. It is intended to inform all individuals, news media, and other entities about their rights and responsibilities when engaging with our content.

All content produced by Social Newsia, including but not limited to, news reports, video footage, photographs, articles, and graphics, is protected by copyright law. As the creator and first owner of this original work, Social Newsia holds exclusive rights to its reproduction, distribution, and public display.

We are a legitimate entity, and our content is our intellectual property. We reserve the right to enforce our copyright at any time. There is no time limit to this right, and the decision to issue a copyright strike or claim is made internally by our team on a case-by-case basis.

Permissions and Fair Use

We understand that our content is valuable and that other channels and news outlets may wish to use it. Our policy is designed to be fair and to protect our work while also facilitating the legitimate sharing of information.

1. Using Our Content with Permission:

  • We welcome collaborations and are often willing to share raw footage or final videos with other news media.
  • When a news channel or a media entity explicitly asks for our video and we provide it, this constitutes a clear grant of permission. In such cases, no credit is required, as the use is already authorized.
  • If you are a channel or media outlet and wish to use our video, you must first obtain explicit permission from us. You can contact us at [email protected] to request a license.

2. Using Our Content Without Explicit Permission (Fair Use):

  • We recognize the concept of “fair use” as it applies to news reporting, criticism, and commentary.
  • You are permitted to use a short portion of our video content without prior permission, provided that you adhere to the following mandatory conditions:
    • Mandatory Credit: You must provide clear and visible credit to Social Newsia in the video itself. This credit should be a static or rolling text overlay, prominently placed in a corner (e.g., top-left, top-right). The credit must be legible and easy to read. A simple and effective format is: “Credit: Social Newsia.”
    • Voiceover Credit: Alternatively, you may give credit through a voiceover. For example, a journalist or anchor may say, “This footage comes to us courtesy of Social Newsia.”
    • No Alteration: The content you use should not be altered in a way that misrepresents our reporting or puts our organization in a derogatory or misleading context.

Consequences of Unauthorized Use

Unauthorized use of our content is a direct violation of our copyright and will be treated seriously. This includes downloading, reproducing, distributing, or using our videos without our explicit permission or without providing the mandatory credit as outlined above.

It is our duty to protect our hard work and intellectual property. We will not hesitate to file a copyright strike or claim on platforms such as YouTube, Meta (Facebook/Instagram), X (Twitter), and others, as these platforms provide us with the tools and rights to do so.

  • No Exceptions: Our policy applies to everyone, regardless of the size of your channel, your public profile, or your social standing. We do not discriminate between large news corporations, small independent creators, politicians, or private citizens.
  • No Warning: We are not obligated to issue a warning before filing a copyright strike. We may choose to do so at our discretion, but the absence of a warning does not negate our right to act.

We have a robust internal team dedicated to monitoring the use of our content. If we find our content being used in an unauthorized manner, we can and will file a copyright strike at any time.

Dispute and Appeal Process

If you have received a copyright strike from Social Newsia and believe it was issued in error, or if you believe you had permission to use the content, you can formally appeal the strike.

  • How to Appeal: Send a detailed email to [email protected]. Your email must include:
    • The link to the video that received the strike.
    • A clear and concise explanation of why you believe the strike is a mistake.
    • Any evidence of permission you may have received, such as email correspondence or a direct link to a shared file.
  • Team Review: Our team will thoroughly review your request and the circumstances surrounding the strike.
  • Final Decision: We do not promise that all strikes will be removed. The decision to accept or reject your request is at the sole discretion of the Social Newsia team. We will inform you of our decision once the review is complete.

A Humble Request

We put our time, effort, and resources into creating quality content for our viewers and the public. We kindly ask that you respect our work and our rights as creators. By following these guidelines, you not only avoid legal action but also support the future of independent and local journalism. Thank you for your cooperation and for valuing the work we do.
